Soft Claws for Cats

Protects furniture

I have known of Soft Claws for cats for years. What a wonderful product. I have always heard stories about cat owners using Soft Claws to prevent their cats from destroying furniture — very successful for such purpose. But as a Phinney’s Friends director, I found out about another use for kitty Soft Claws that may be life-saving.

Keeps sick cat owners & cats together

At Phinney’s, we help people in need keep their pets, and many of them are chronically ill. Soft Claws has been key to preventing them from being scratched. Many of the people we help cannot afford to get scratched, not even once. I’m talking about individuals who live with mental illness, for instance, who might not give a cat scratch the attention it deserves, and may end up with a very serious infection (I’ve seen it more than once). Also, people living with HIV or AIDS must not suffer any injuries, especially from a kitty who goes into the litter box to pee and poop, so his paws are really dirty (so dangerous).

Soft Claws has been protecting loving cat owners from getting hurt and making sure they can continue to enjoy their furry companions even when they are sick or disabled. Very cool, huh?

Fun colors

I have recently found out about the glittery nail caps for cats (before that I had only seen the solid colors), and thought they were so pretty. Soft Claws really knows how to add fun to something useful. :-)

Soft Claws for Dogs

rating_A

I recently found out about Soft Claws for dogs, when the company sent me a bunch of doggie nail caps to test on Frieda, Geppetto and Lola. I was skeptical at first. Do I really need to prevent my (already scratched) hardwood floors from being further scratched? Oh well, but they were there, and I had hopes that the caps could help Geppetto skid a bit less, so why not…

Slightly better grip

Unfortunately, Soft Claws were not enough to turn Geppetto into a normal dog, running around the house. But the skidding slightly decreased. Good.

I also noticed that Frieda and Lola got a slightly better grip when they start running in the house like crazy and, yes, I am sure my floors won’t need to be re-finished so early. Cool.

Claw protection for disabled dogs

But the best thing I got from doggie Soft Claws is something I wasn’t expecting. Geppetto drags his front paws so hard, he starts bleeding if not wearing rubber boots when he goes for walks. Walking on cement has been out of the question for years, as his nails also start bleeding. Walking on dirt trails on a regular basis, Geppetto still splinters and files his toenails quite badly. To give you an idea, I have never cut his nails (there has never been anything there to cut). But with Soft Claws, all the impact goes on the plastic nail cap, and the splinting and filing is finally resolved. He is more protected from getting hurt, which decreases his chances of getting an infection. Awesome.

Fun fun fun!

Besides the useful aspects of this product, I confess I really enjoyed the colorful nails on my dogs. Call me silly, call me crazy, I don’t care. It’s just so much fun to see Frieda’s nails covered in pink glitter, and Geppetto’s all yellow and shiny (Lola’s caps are clear, not so fun, but oh well, they were a gift). :-) And I should say it is also a lot of fun to spoil my dogs with cheerful adornments.

Better grooming habits

Lastly, the Soft Claws got me into the habit of checking my dogs’ nails every weekend. I trim any exposed nails and replace fallen caps. And since I got into the groove of doing all that, I created a ‘Salon Saturday’ here at home — my day to brush the dogs, examine their fur, check paws and mouth, trim fur if necessary, and even check their rears. This has definitely increased my dogs’ quality of life, as I can catch (and solve) any problems sooner.

Prevents destruction & injuries

I have never dealt with such issues, but I read reviews from people who say the dog nail caps prevent their dogs from scratching doors and destroying furniture in the house. Also, one review mentioned an elderly dog owner who was able to prevent injuries by fitting his dog with Soft Claws. He was getting accidentally scratched, which was becoming a medical issue. Problem solved. :-)

soft claws for dogs-2

Geppetto has yellow glittery nails now! Wow! :-)

I have not been compensated to write this review, and all the info here is my honest opinion about Soft Claws. I highly recommend this product and am a Soft Claws loyal customer now. :-)
